Heikinpäivä Begins With Kalevala Art Exhibit

Heikinpäivä celebrates the mid-point of the winter season–a day which can’t come soon enough.

Though the parade won’t take place until the last Saturday of this month, there are Heikinpäivä events starting this week.

Finnish-American Heritage Center Director Jim Kurtti describes an art exhibit opening Tuesday at the Copper Country Community Arts Center.

On Thursday, the Nordic Film series presents the documentary film “The Unknown Woman”, showing at 2pm and 6pm at the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock.
