Heikinpäivä 2017 has already created some great memories but there are still opportunities to make more.
The Family Fun Night is being held at the Finnish American Heritage Center tomorrow evening from 6:30 to 8:30.
Dave Maki from the Finnish American Reporter says families will love this event.
Local radio personality and theater performer Kris Kyrö will give instruction on the 5-string kantele – the national instrument of Finland – at 6 p.m. Monday at the Finnish American Heritage Center.
Coincidentally, Kyrö got her start with the kantele by taking a Heikinpäivä enrichment class several years ago.
For only $15 per person, students will learn the basics of playing the kantele. No musical experience is needed; if you can count to five, you can succeed in this class.
To reserve your seat for the kantele class, call (906) 482-1413.
There is also the squeaky cheese making workshop on Monday at 2:00 and 6:00pm.
