Hancock Sends Facial Covering Requirements For Sports To Parents

In an email sent to parents, Hancock Athletic Director Chris Salani forwarded the email sent to him from the Michigan High School Athletic Association, in regards to facial covering requirements.

Athletes competing in cross country, golf and tennis are not required to wear a mask, although they are recommended when not competing.

Swimmers and divers are also exempt, when preparing to enter the water, but are required when not in the water.

Football, volleyball and soccer players are required to wear a mask at all times.

With no provisions in the executive order, MHSAA has no legal authority to waive or modify any part of this order.

Masks must be worn for indoor and outdoor practice sessions, statewide.

Coaches, medical staff, event staff and media must also wear masks.

Officials have the option to wear a mask when on the field.

The executive order does not define “facial coverings” for the purpose of organized sports. As long as it covers the mouth and nose, you should be able to use it.
