Installation of security cameras has been completed in all of the Hancock schools.
Superintendent Steve Patchin says funding for the upgraded system came through the district’s sinking fund.
At Monday night’s meeting, the Hancock Board of Education also reviewed the progress of an energy audit being done by Bay Electric. That project, and resulting energy upgrades, are also being paid for by the sinking fund.
Energy priority number one will be replacing exterior lighting with LED fixtures, which Patchin says should pay for itself in energy savings in the first several years.
The Hancock board also heard about the extensive Veterans Day program at Barkell Elementary School. Students were asked to talk with their families about relatives who served in the military, and then create posters about them. The resulting display included veterans from as far back as the Revolutionary War.
