Hancock School District Outlines Academic Requirements

In an email sent to parents, Hancock School District Superintendent Steve Patchin outlined academic requirements for students, for the final marking period of the year.

Students attending Barkell Elementary will be assessed on their engagement in learning activities by teachers.

The district is required by the state to track student engagement, so improvements to the distance learning curriculum can be made.

Parents are asked to return physical and virtual assignments.

Middle and high schoolers, with the exception of seniors, will need to complete 60% of assignments to earn a “Pass”  by June 10th, the last day of school.

Failure to do so, will earn the student an “Incomplete” which will remain on their record, until 60% of the work is turned in.

Students earning a passing grade for the 3rd Quarter and a “Pass” in the 4th Quarter, will move on to the next grade.

Seniors will be required to complete a portfolio, which includes an updated resume, to school specifications, in order to receive a “Pass” to graduate.

Instructions on how to complete the portfolio will be sent out next week.

Teachers along with Principal Chris Salani, will help seniors with their portfolios.

Contact your school office, with any other questions.
