Hancock Reconsiders Marijuana Opt-Out

Hancock could move a step closer to allowing potential sale of marijuana for recreational use tonight.

At a special meeting, members of the city council will consider the introduction of an ordinance that would rescind their earlier opt-out from the state marijuana system.

No ordinance allowing or regulating sale within the city is on the agenda for the meeting.

If the proposed ordinance is accepted by the council, public hearings and final action would probably take place in December.

The council will also consider endorsing a plan by business owner Melissa Goulette to establish a floating water park offshore from Hancock Beach next summer, and an ordinance that would regulate agricultural activity within the city.

The meeting begins at 6:00 at city hall.
