This is the final week that the city of Hancock will be doing their own curbside recycling pickup.
Waste Management will begin handling the city’s garbage and recycling starting Monday, September 12th.
Residents are reminded that all items need to be out by 7am.
Utilizing the new split-load truck, garbage and recycling will be collected on the same day.
Collection will be done on one of two days and the pick-up day may change for some neighborhoods.
Those east of Elevation Street will have their pickup on Mondays.
Those west of Elevation Street will be on Wednesdays.
Any container will work and some people are painting or taping the word “recycling” on the bins they now use.
New recycling bins can also be purchased at McGann’s or Risto’s.
Single stream will continue for all items including glass.
Service is also available to small commercial businesses by taking items to the city’s DPW garage at 1601 Tomasi Drive.
The last day that the city of Hancock will pick up recyclables will be this Thursday.
