Hancock Pursues Swedetown Gorge Purchase, Prepares to Welcome Art Exhibit

The City of Hancock wants to own the Swedetown Gorge.

At last night’s meeting, council members authorized acting city manager Mary Babcock to approach property owners with the idea, and to restart efforts to obtain grant money from the Michigan Trust Fund to help pay for the purchase.

Babcock also told the council that an exhibit will be coming to the city from the Detroit Institute of Art this summer…

The grant bringing the exhibit to Hancock was coordinated by the Copper Country Community Arts Center.
