Hancock Public School District Hosts Public Hearing

The Hancock Public School District is having a special meeting for a public hearing, regarding the request for a Labor Day waiver, which would allow the district to begin the 2021-2023 school years before Labor Day.

A representative from the Michigan Department of Education will attend the meeting remotely.

By law, school districts must start the school year, after Labor Day.

The waiver, if granted, will allow the district to start the school year before Labor Day.

The district made the request, so that starting after Labor Day, will not extend the school year, when Summer arrives.

Improved morale and increased participation in after school activities are expected, if the waiver is granted.

Come to the Hancock Middle School Boardroom, Tuesday February 25th at 4:30pm and make sure your voice is heard.
