Hancock Planning Council Advances Business Park

The new Hancock Business and Technology park took another step forward last night.

The city’s planning commission approved the final draft of the park ordinance last night, and forwarded it to the city council.

The park will be built on a 40-acre parcel behind Hancock High School. Most of the money will come from federal and state grants. Officials hope to begin construction this summer.

Hancock has also begun to consider how solar power panels might be allowed within the city. There is currently no ordinance guiding installation and use of solar panels.

City Manager May Babcock presented language from several cities to the planning commission last night for consideration, after a citizen inquiry.

The commission hopes to begin consideration, once the city budget, zoning ordinance update, and business and technology park issues have been dealt with.
