Hancock Planning Commission Endorses Proposed Wind/Solar Ordinance

Hancock’s proposed solar and wind energy ordinance will advance to the city council for consideration.

The city planning commission endorsed the document last night, despite the absences of members Paul Labine, Andrew Lahti and Bob Wencz, and city manager Mary Babcock.

Commission member Steve Walton was commended for his efforts in researching what other municipalities have done to open up opportunities for residents to implement alternate energy sources.

Commission members also encouraged the public to attend the two input sessions that have been scheduled as the update process to the city’s master plan begins. They will be held April 12th at 5:00 at the Orpheum Theater, and April 13th at 5:00 at the Houghton County Arena.
