Hancock Man Dies in Apparent Scooter Accident

A 50-year-old Hancock man was found dead on Wright Street in the city early Thursday.

Police officers were called out around 5:40. They found the man on the roadway, already dead.

Officers report that it appears the subject crashed on his electric scooter. The investigation continues, but officials say it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

The man’s identity has not been released.

The Hancock Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police, the Houghton Police Department, MTU Public Safety, Mercy Ambulance and the Houghton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
