Hancock Man Arraigned On 5 Drug Charges

The second suspect arrested in a crackdown of a local drug trafficking ring has been arraigned.

24-year-old Shawn Maurice Bell of Hancock is facing three counts of Delivery/Manufacture of Heroin, all 20 year felonies; and two counts of Delivery/Manufacture of Morphine, seven year felonies.

Bell was arrested in Sault St. Marie last week while trying to take a bus to Detroit.

He was arraigned Friday and lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for March 1st at 10:00am.

The investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team had previously led to the arrest of 24-year-old Charles Lester Knuckles of South Range.

Knuckles was also charged with five felony drug counts and will have his prelim on February 24th.
