Hancock Looks Ahead To Summer Recreation Projects

The tennis court at Terrace Park in Hancock will be rebuilt thanks to a grant from the Portage Health Foundation.

The city of Hancock is receiving $20,000 toward the project, with the city contributing about $5,000 for the new courts as part of an overall plan to improve the park.

Hancock Mayor Pro-Tem Ted Belej said the improvements will take Terrace Park from being the park in the poorest condition in the city to the one in the best condition.

Recreation millage projects for the year in the amount of $115,000 have the go-ahead by the Hancock City Council.

The various projects were recommended by the city’s Recreation Committee and include projects such as the beach dock…playground equipment at the campground and Driving Park, and Bocce ball playing facilities at the Driving Park.

The recreation millage is in the second of its five years and generates over $85,000 a year for recreational improvements with the city providing the remaining funds.
