A Hancock High School has been honored with a prestigious national prize.
Industrial arts instructor Gary Mishica is one of 17 educators nationwide being recognized by the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.
He and 14 of the other winners will each receive $50,000 – $15,000 for themselves, and $35,000 for their school programs.
The three top winners will receive $100,000 prize packages.
Mishica has been teaching industrial arts for 38 years at Hancock. More than half of Mishica’s graduating students continue working in the vocational trades after high school.
