Hancock Could Adopt New Zoning Ordinance Tonight

The City of Hancock could approve its new zoning ordinance at a special council meeting tonight.

City Manager Mary Babcock says the first major rewrite of the zoning rules in more than a half-century has been in the works since November of 2020…

The Planning Commission did a lot of due diligence. We also brought in stakeholders in the initial process, did interviews – what’s working, what’s not working.

A final public hearing on the new ordinance begins at 6 this evening at city hall. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes. The special meeting will follow, with consideration of the ordinance the only item on the agenda.

The draft ordinance is posted at the Hancock city website. You can read it here.
