Hancock City Council Holds Meeting

It’s official, the intersection of Lake Avenue and Mill Street in Hancock, will have two additional stop signs added, on the east and west bound corners of Lake Avenue, making it a three way stop.

This after the Hancock council voted unanimously to approve it.

There had been numerous requests from residents to add the stop signs, in hopes of slowing down traffic in the area.

There was also a request, to have Houghton and Hancock, join the International Cities of Peace.

Police Chief Wayne Butler spoke of the School Service Award given to his police department, from the CCISD.

He also had this to say regarding officer training.

The Council also voted to approve joining the Houghton County Recreation Authority.

Ashley Freeman was approved as the new city clerk, and Linda Kalinec is Hancock’s new city treasurer.

Resolution 20-12 regarding poverty exemptions was also approved.
