Hancock Board Of Education Expects Budget Cuts For The Fall

Hancock’s high school graduation ceremony is scheduled for May 30th.

That’s on the condition that Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order is lifted on the 28th.

If the order is extended by two weeks, the ceremony would take place on June 13th.

Hancock’s Board of Education is also working on plans to return in the Fall, although big budget cuts are expected.

They also congratulated Jim Guzek for his EMT Certification, and thanked Dale Dewald and Joe Reini, for their sponsoring the Hancock Graduation Billboard.

Copper Country Association of School Board Awards went to Makenna Nuttall, Jennifer Smith and the Portage Lake District Library.

The Board approved the Food Service Proposal with Houghton-Portage Township and the budget for the 2021 school year.

The Board also accepted resignations for Kirsten Menigoz, Elle Heinonen, Kaitlyn Khan and Dylan Meyer.

The District will be looking for a Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach, and a Boys Varsity Hockey Coach.
