Two of the region’s biggest Halloween events will be held today.
In Houghton, Shelden Avenue will be closed from 4:00 until 6:00 for Treat Street. Kids in costumes will flood into town, starting at the City Center to pick up their free trick-or-treat bags and tour the haunted house.
Downtown businesses will offer treats, and businesses and organizations from other parts of the city will set up along the sidewalks.
The Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce is adding to the atmosphere. Chamber manager Tara Arena says their Family Fun Festival will run from 3:00 until 7:00 on the upper level of the Vault Hotel parking deck…
All those events are free. Parked cars should be removed from downtown Houghton by 4:00 this afternoon.
In Calumet, the annual Trunk or Treat event will run from 5:00 until 7:00. Two blocks of Fifth Street will be shut down.
Adults can decorate and park their cars, and hand out treats. Kid can collect treats. There’s a $50.00 cash prize for the best-decorated vehicle.
“Trunkers” need to check in and be parked by 4:45 this afternoon.
