Hagan Memorial Service Scheduled

A memorial service has been scheduled for this afternoon to honor a Copper Country native who died while fighting a wildfire in Oregon.

Twenty-seven-year-old Collin Hagan of Twin Lakes was killed August 10th when he was struck by a falling tree while working at the Big Swamp Wildfire near Oakridge.

Today’s service will be held at Michigan Tech, and is described by Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials as being for family and close friends.

However, the event will also be live streamed on Facebook for anyone else who would like to observe and pay their respects.

It will begin at 5 this afternoon, and you can access the webcast here.

Hagan’s funeral will be held tomorrow. The family has offered two options for memorial donations, including the Wildland Firefighters Foundation, and the Collin Hagan Forestry Scholarship at the Adams Township Schools.

Find information about how to donate, along with visitation and funeral information, here.
