Houghton Portage Elementary School will have a fresh look when students return next fall.
At last night’s meeting, board of education members approved a handful of maintenance and upgrade projects that will be addressed during the summer break.
The list includes new carpeting in the elementary school hallways and some high school classrooms, along with a new diving board for the pool.
Most of the $275,591 cost will be covered by money from the district’s most recent bond sale. District officials are hoping for a grant from the Michigan State Police to upgrade exterior doors.
Board members also approved the purchase of a new truck for the maintenance department, and voted to move next month’s meeting to April 25th.
