The ice on the Portage Canal should melt eventually and when it does, someone will win the Sink the Sled contest being put on by the Houghton Rotary.
A clean snowmobile is currently on the ice and contestants are to guess when it will fall through. Guesses can be purchased at www.SinktheSled.com for a chance to win up to $1,000.
Contest proceeds benefit Houghton Rotary’s local student scholarship fund.
