Food and clothing drives are common in our area during the early part of winter, but there are other necessities that low-income families struggle to afford, as well.
The Copper Country Great Start Collaborative has kicked off its annual diaper drive.
Donated diapers and wipes will be distributed through the Keweenaw Family Resource Center’s Baby Closet, which makes such supplies available throughout the year at no charge.
KFRC Executive Director Iola Brubaker says all sizes and diapers are needed, but the most commonly requested sizes are size 4, 5 and 6. All donations stay local and directly benefit families in the Copper Country.
Donation boxes will be available through December at Auto Pro, Copper Axe, Chicago Beefs, Econo, KFRC, Louie’s Fresh Market, Larry’s Market, the Portage Lake District Library, Superior Family Chiropractic, the BHK Child Development Centers in Centennial, Houghton, and L’Anse, Little Huskies Child Development Center, Evangel Church, the Baraga Public Schools, the Copper Country Intermediate School District, the Hancock Schools, and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Center.
