Great Lakes water levels remain high, as Fall storms approach.
This from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District.
John Allis, Corps spokesman, urged residents who were affected by high water last year, to prepare similar impacts or even worse.
Allis went on to say even though lake levels are now declining, this active weather can potentially bring tremendous impacts to coastlines, including erosion and coastal flooding.
Lakes Michigan and Huron set new monthly mean records for high water levels in August, although they are starting to decline.
Lakes Erie and Ontario also began declining in August, while Lake Superior will begin declining this month.
Residents are reminded that efforts to alleviate erosion or flooding may require a permit.
