Houghton, MI (November 28, 2016) – Copper Country United Way is pleased to announce it has received an $800 grant from the Portage Health Auxiliary. The grant award will be used to make necessary upgrades to computer software and office equipment and will allow the Copper Country United Way to continue to support our partner agencies.
Since 1958, Copper Country United Way has organized its Annual Campaign to raise funds to help support local human services organizations who provide critical services and programs that assist elderly, youth, and families in need.
“The money we raise helps build a better, safer, healthier and more economically-stable community, so it is very important that when community members donate to Copper Country United Way, they know their money goes to the partner agencies, “ said Lori Weir, CCUW Board President. “Our Board works very hard to keep our operating expenses to a minimum. We have needed these technology upgrades for many years. This funding has come at a critical time when many of our programs are no longer compatible with the modern version of Windows. This will allow us to continue to do our work without impacting the funds that go directly to support our partner agencies.”
The Portage Health Auxiliary is a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve the health and well-being of elderly and youth causes in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties.
