The Houghton County Road Commission is getting federal money to help with three purchases.
The first grant will help buy a new column vehicle lift, to replace one that wore out because of extensive use repairing county vehicles after the 2018 Father’s Day Flood.
The second grant will help purchase a quad-axle truck, to add to the county’s fleet, which has been overworked because of flood repairs.
The third grant will help purchase a truck equipped with a water tank steamer attachment. It will be used to clear debris from clogged culverts and also thaw frozen culverts in the spring. It will replace an existing vehicle that has worn out.
The money is coming from USDA Rural Development.
