Grand Traverse Region Day at Michigan Tech on Friday

Michigan Tech will host its first region day on Friday, Sept 21, under the CareerFEST Tent.

Hundreds of Huskies attend Industry Days each fall to explore careers in a particular field or industry. This Friday, students are invited to explore careers in a particular region of Michigan, the area known as Grand Traverse.

Students can find out what it’s like to work, live, and play in one of America’s top-ranked Beach Towns on a Lake and can connect with employers that offer careers in healthcare, manufacturing, automation, aerospace, and more.

“For some, geographic location is the most important factor in a job search,”  says Shelley Farrey, who helped coordinate the event. “The Grand Traverse Region offers excellent opportunity not only for work/life balance, but a variety of industries that will attract Michigan Tech students of all majors.”

Two of the area’s largest employers Hagerty Insurance and Munson Healthcare will attend,  along with 20 other companies from the area.

Skilled Manufacturing plans to bring representatives from both their automotive and aerospace divisions. Former NASA astronaut and STEM education advocate, Greg Johnson, will also be promoting aerospace opportunities in Traverse City.

Michigan Tech has partnered with the Grand Traverse Area Manufacturing Council & the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce for this exclusive event.
