As expected, Governor Whitmer has extended her “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order through April 30th.
Like the previous order, signed on march 23rd, the extension limits gatherings and travel.
The extended order also calls for retailers to limit the number of shoppers allowed in their store, at one time, and prohibits businesses from requiring workers to leave their homes, unless absolutely necessary.
Governor Whitmer also said this doesn’t mean life will return to normal on May 1st, but based on the current information, she felt May 1st, was an appropriate window for an extension.
Chief Medical Officer Joneigh Khaldun said it was clear that staying home was the most effective way to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan.
To date, Michigan has over 21,000 confirmed cases, with 1,076 deaths.
Houghton County, has 1 confirmed case, but there are others awaiting test results.
