Governor Whitmer Announces K-12 School Closings

Michigan now has ten more confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s total cases to 12.

In response to the latest developments, Governor Whitmer has announced the closure of all K-12 schools in Michigan, beginning Monday, March 16th, through Sunday, April 5th.

Schools are set to reopen on Monday, April 6th, but that is subject to change, based on how the country is dealing with the outbreak.

Governor Whitmer pointed out Governors from other states have also taken strict measures to slow the spread of the virus.

Even though all K-12 schools will be closed, Governor Whitmer believes school employees should continue to be paid, as if they were still working.
