Governer Whitmer Signs Executive Directive And Will Hold Press Conference Later This Morning

Governor Whitmer has signed an executive directive, giving state departments and agency heads the power to  enforce COVID-19 related laws.

These include wearing a mask when inside a business or a crowded place outside and the capacity of businesses.

This in response from Michigan going from the average of 15 people per million,  contracting COVID-19 in mid-June to over 50 per million by late July.

The directive allows directors and agency heads to assign elevated authority to enforce COVID-19 related laws, where transmission is well documented from such places as nursing homes and meat processing plants.

Whitmer went on to say “Ensuring these executive orders are enforced across the state will protect Michigan families, small businesses and first responders on the front lines of this crisis.”

The Governor will be holding a press conference with Chief Health Officer Dr. Joneigh Khaldun this morning at 10:30am.
