Say “goodbye” to “GOAT.”
The caprine acronym for “Greatest Of All Time” tops this year’s Banished Words List, compiled by the Unicorn Hunters at Lake Superior State University.
Other words and phrases that have been exiled include “inflection point,” “quiet quitting,” “gaslighting” and “moving forward.”
Words and phrases are added to the list because of overuse or common misuse.
Sadly, inclusion on the list does not actually remove the terms from common use. “Amazing,” “absolutely” and “it is what it is” each made this year’s list for the second time.
“Does that make sense” and “irregardless” rounded out the top-10 banished words and phrases this year.
