This is the weekend to pop the top off and enjoy the outdoors.
It’s the inaugural Yoopers Go Topless Too event–part of the 11th annual global celebration where Jeep enthusiasts take the top off their vehicles and go for a group ride.
Organizer Tom Swetich says you don’t need to have a Jeep to take part in the event. “Jeeps, Blazers, Broncos, Suzuki Sidekicks—anything kind of vehicle you can take the top off and go through a little bit of mud—nothing extreme but things are still pretty wet out there,” said Swetich.
Participants will meet at Ray Kestner Waterfront Park at 10:00am Saturday for the start of the ride, rain or shine—though you will not need to take off the top if the weather is bad.
Money raised will go toward the Brody Strong Foundation. “The Body Strong Foundation raised money to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer. It was named after Brody Etelamaki,” explained Swetich. “He had died about five years ago at four years old from glioblastoma multiforme, commonly called GBM, and his parents Tanya and Doug have since started this foundation and give everything that they make to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center into research into finding a cure for GBM.”
