Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock will mark 50 years of ministry with a special celebration following Sunday’s worship.
Gloria Dei was formed after the merger of St. Matthew’s Finnish Lutheran Church and Salem Swedish Lutheran Church in 1966. Three years later, they dedicated the Gloria Dei building on West Quincy Street.
After the 10:30 service, a pasty lunch will be served, some older members of the congregation will share memories, and a time capsule sealed into the building’s cornerstone will be opened.
