GCC Students Graduate

Members of the 88th graduating class of Gogebic Community College received their diplomas Friday night.

At the Lindquist Center in Ironwood, 180 degrees were awarded. Seventy-eight students graduated with honors or high honors.

Speaker Marquise Slay recounted how the degree he earned from GCC in 2013 propelled him to a successful career as Regional Sales Director for Oliver Companies in Duluth. Slay excelled as an athlete for the Samsons, and then at Wisconsin-Superior, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He’s involved in numerous community service groups and projects, and told graduates that they can have similar success…

Corinthians 13:7 says “Love bears all things, believe all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.” That journey started with someone believing in me, and I’m here to say that I believe in you, and I know that you’re going to do great things, because you finished the first step to success here at Gogebic Community College.

It was the first in-person graduation for Gogebic Community College since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
