Gasoline prices are slightly lower in the central U.P. today than they were a week ago.
AAA Michigan reports their Marquette region average is at $2.61 per gallon. That’s a penny less than a week ago, a dime less than a month ago, and 35 cents less than a year ago.
As usual, Keweenaw County is higher than the region average, at $2.92 per gallon. Houghton County is slightly lower, at $2.59. Baraga County is the lowest, at $2.50.
Prices could change dramatically because of the attack on a major Saudi oil facility over the weekend. Oil prices are already going up on the world market, and President Donald Trump says he’ll tap into national reserves to try to stabilize the market.
