After several weeks of increases, gasoline prices in Michigan seem to have leveled off.
AAA Michigan’s ongoing survey pegs the statewide average price of a gallon of unleaded regular at $3.29 this morning. That’s two cents lower than a week ago, seven cents higher than a month ago, and 12 cents higher than a year ago. It’s two cents below the national average.
Prices on the Keweenaw Peninsula continue to trend well above the statewide average, with Houghton County at $3.43, and Keweenaw County at $3.50. Ontonagon County is at $3.40. Baraga County is a bit below the state average, at $3.22.
Market observers credit reduced travel after the holidays with stopping the upward trend, but note that the national supply has dropped, which could prevent prices from falling back to their pre-Christmas levels.
