With the heavily-traveled Thanksgiving holiday approaching, gasoline prices are at their lowest levels in weeks.
AAA Michigan’s ongoing survey pegs the statewide average of a gallon of unleaded regular at $3.81. That’s 22 cents lower than a week ago, and 30 cents lower than a month ago, but still 41 cents higher than a year ago.
Prices in the Keweenaw haven’t necessarily followed the trend. While Baraga County is at $3.65 and Ontonagon County is at $3.80, Houghton County is at $4.16, and Keweenaw County at $4.20.
Analysts say concerns about a potential worldwide economic slowdown are keeping the price of crude oil from rising, even though supplies have dwindled.
