Gas Prices Edge Higher

Gasoline prices edged higher in the central Upper Peninsula, as the year-end holiday travel window passed its midpoint.

AAA Michigan reports that the Marquette metro average has risen to $2.52 for a gallon of unleaded regular. That’s three cents higher than a week ago, three cents lower than a month ago, 32 cents higher than a year ago, and seven cents below the statewide average.

Prices are higher in the Copper Country. Keweenaw County’s average tops the state, at $2.92. Houghton County is at $2.56, Ontonagon at $2.59, and Baraga at $2.54. The national average is $2.58.
