Gas Prices Bounce Back Up

Gasoline prices are heading back up.

AAA Michigan’s ongoing survey places the statewide average of a gallon of unleaded regular at $3.10.

That’s 12 cents higher than a week ago, but still 50 cents lower than a month ago. It’s almost identical to the price a year ago, and is five cents below the current national average.

Gas prices on the Keweenaw Peninsula continue to trend well above the Michigan average. Houghton County is at $3.49, and Keweenaw County is at $3.50 – the highest in the state. Ontonagon County is at $3.35. Baraga County is below the state average at $3.01.

The fuel price tracking app GasBuddy recently forecast that prices will remain modest for the next several months, but could climb back to $4.00 per gallon by late spring.
