CALUMET, Mich. – From cherry tomatoes to red onions, golden corn kernels to green bell peppers, many veggies are freshest in summer. Learn how to make a colorful and healthy variety a part of your meal plan during a free cooking demonstration at Pat’s Foods in Calumet.
Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics is partnering with Pat’s Foods to offer an educational cooking demonstration at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14. Aspirus Keweenaw Clinical Dietitian Taylor Mattson will discuss micronutrients and why it’s important to make colorful fruits and vegetables a part of your regular diet. On hand to help with the demonstration will be Aspirus Kinesiologists Sarah Golus and Andrew Meverden. Pre-registration is required for this free event. Call 337-6528 to reserve your spot.
“The colors of fruits and vegetables give you a hint about the vitamins and minerals inside and that’s what we’ll be sharing with you,” said Mattson. “It’s so important to understand the substantial health benefits they offer.”
Take-away resources will be provided at the cooking demonstration, including informational brochures on the following topics:
- Smart shopping for healthy fruits and vegetables
- Tips to add more vegetables to your day
- Seasons of eating
- Eat more color
