With COVID-19 cases increasing rapidly in the Copper Country, free testing will be offered Saturday, October 2nd.
Anyone who wants a test can get one between 9:00 and 2:00 at the Gates Tennis Center at Michigan Tech.
No appointment, prescription or doctor’s order will be needed. Participants are encouraged to bring a photo ID. Masks should be worn.
The Michigan National Guard will work with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, local health care providers, and Michigan Tech to provide the tests.
Joel Isaacson, Tech’s senior athletic director and project manager of the MTU Flex Task Force, noted that COVID-19 numbers among the campus community have been declining. He said the University now sees an opportunity to use its resources to address the spread of the virus in the community as a whole.
The Guard has been assisting in testing around the state, and provided services this past week in Holland, Tawas City, Rogers City and Three Rivers.
