Free Access To Library Coming To An End For Chassell Residents

Residents of Chassell Township will no longer have free access to services at the Portage Lake District Library starting on January 1st.

Because the township residents voted to leave the library district, they will need to pay a non-resident membership fee to continue checking out materials.  For non-residents, the cost of a membership is $110 a year for an individual or $155 for a family.  Those rates are based on the average annual tax paid by residents of the library district.

Non-residents may choose to purchase 3-month or 6-month memberships as well.

Chassell Township residents are still welcome to use materials in the library and attend programs.  Without a membership, they will be unable to check out books, participate in interlibrary loans, or access digital resources and databases.

For more information, please call the library at 906-482-4570, or contact staff via email at info@pldl.org.
