May 4, 2018 – Four roadside parks operated by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the Upper Peninsula will remain closed until May 11.
The following roadside parks, which had been slated to open May 7, will remain closed until later next week due to weather conditions:
– Esrey Roadside Park on M-26 in Keweenaw County
– Hebard Roadside Park on M-26 in Keweenaw County
– Snow Gauge Roadside Park on M-26 in Keweenaw County
– Greenscholl Roadside Park on US-2 in Schoolcraft County
MDOT maintains 32 roadside parks in the U.P. They usually close in late October and reopen in mid- to late April. While most parks will be open May 7 this year, motorists should not expect drinking water to be turned on until later in May, after annual testing and treatment of the park water systems is completed.
