Four Snowmobilers Rescued After Falling Through Ice

In Alger County on Friday, four snowmobilers broke through the ice around 10:45 in the morning near the east channel of Grand Island.

The Alger County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call saying that all of the drivers were able to pull themselves from the water and make it to Grand Island.

The Alger County Sheriff’s Rescue “21” Unit were able to pick up the snowmobilers from the island with a hovercraft.

They were treated by Alger EMS and released without any injuries.

The Alger County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to everyone that the ice conditions near Grand Island are very weak and people entering the ice should use extreme caution.
