Finlandia’s Johnson Applauds Tuition Grant Restoration

Some private college students across Michigan can breathe easier, now that the Michigan Tuition Grant has been reinstated. 

In fact, students with financial need who attend Michigan’s private colleges will get more money under the supplemental budget agreement signed last month by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. 

The tuition grant traditionally awarded $2,400 per year. That has been increased to $2,800.

Finlandia University president Philip Johnson called the restoration of the program good news, saying it will help many students be able to continue their educations. He said the potential loss of the program would have been disastrous. 

Finlandia students who receive Michigan Tuition Grants will see the money applied to their accounts for the spring semester.
