Finlandia University has a new leader.
Tim Pinnow will become the 17th president of the university on July 1st, succeeding Philip Johnson, who has led the college for 15 years.
Pinnow is currently Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Colorado Mesa University. During a dozen years at Colorado Mesa, he was the first director of the school’s graduate studies program. He previously spent 15 years at New Mexico State University, where he became a full professor, and served as Artistic Director of the American Southwest Theatre Company. He began his teaching career at St. Olaf College, which, like Finlandia, is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Pinnow graduated from Luther College and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Florida in Theatre Performance. As a teenager, he spent two summer sessions in the Copper Country at a leadership camp at what was then Suomi College.
