Finlandia University Gallery will be updating it’s technology in the gallery thanks to a grant received from Finlandia Foundation National and donations from the community.
“As contemporary art and the technologies that support it advance, the types of media used by artists to create their work has also changed,” notes Gallery Director Carrie Flaspohler. “Many artists are working with multiple technologies to create and display their artwork. Thirty years ago, exhibits were primarily created in paint, 3D sculpture, and printmaking. Now, video, multi-media, and other new innovative technologies are integrated into art.”
The curriculum within the art department has also continued to evolve to embrace digital media. The technology acquired through the Finlandia Foundation National grant and community donations will support student learning now and into the future.
