Finlandia University alumni and friends are invited back to campus the weekend of Oct. 4-6 for FinnU’s first ever football Homecoming celebration.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome alumni back to campus and have planned an entire weekend of events to celebrate,” said Coordinator of External Relations Olivia Myers. “Obviously, the weekend centers around the football game, but we also have a number of events that will connect alumni with current students and give them a chance to relive their experiences on campus.”
The festivities begin on Thursday Oct. 4 when alumni will have a chance to mingle with current students and President Johnson at the alumni and student social in the Hoover Center. Key events from the weekend include an alumni and student lunch, an alumni social at Gino’s and a Homecoming parade that will take participants from Quincy Green to the game at McAfee Field. The celebration will culminate in the Finlandia Lions football team’s second home game of the season against Kalamazoo. While almost every homecoming activity is free to participate in, Myers requests that those interested in attending RSVP.
“This is a coordinated effort between student affairs, Student Senate, athletics and university relations and we want to make sure our first Homecoming is a successful one,” said Myers. “While not required to attend, an RSVP will help us plan our events accordingly to ensure everyone has a great time.”
