The Finlandia Promise, going back to 2009, is now known as the Hancock Promise, after being extended for the next seven years, by Finlandia University and the Hancock School District.
In 2009, Hancock gave Finlandia the old high school building, but held onto the old bus garage.
Now, Finlandia has taken control of the bus garage, and allows Hancock graduates to attend Finlandia University for $2,500 a year, and also allows a gap year, should students wish to pursue other avenues after high school.
Finlandia University President Philip Johnson commented on the work he and Hancock Superintendent Dr. Steve Patchin have done.
The Hancock School District also has use of the McAfee Field for football games.
