Finlandia University is added a new course of study.
Beginning next fall, students will be able to declare creative writing as a minor.
The track will include five core classes that focus on fiction writing, poetry, creative non-fiction, contemporary literature, and a creative writing portfolio. An additional elective or internship will also be required.
Carolyn Dekker from the Suomi College of Arts and Sciences hopes the minor will encourage students who wish to pursue writing as art, a career path, or for personal fulfillment.
